The recording window and the floating pill

Everything you need mid-call is in the recording window. There is no set-up dialog before a recording. Audio sources and the project are all changeable while it runs.

Discard, pause and finish

Control	What it does

Audio, project and call type

The side panel

Tabs down the right, each appearing only when it has something to show: Transcript for the live transcript, Notes for your own notes, and Guide for an interview guide if the project has one.

The circular button in the corner is Juni. Press it or ⌘J to ask questions about the call while it is happening.

The floating pill

A small pill floats above your other windows while you record, so you can see Junior is running without switching to it. Icon-only: animated bars while recording, amber while paused, a pulsing dot while finishing. Click it to open a notes card and type without leaving your call.

The floating pill is excluded from screen shares, screen recordings and screenshots on both macOS and Windows. It is visible to you and invisible to everyone you are presenting to, and it will not appear in a screenshot you take of it either.

Questions

Why does recording start immediately, with no set-up step?

Because the set-up step used to make people miss the first minute of a call. Every choice it asked for (audio sources, project, call type) can be changed while the recording runs, so Junior starts capturing and lets you sort the details out afterwards.

Can I close the main window while recording?

Yes. The recording keeps going and the floating pill stays put, which is the point of it. Get back to the full window by clicking the pill or Junior's icon.

The sidebar button says Live view rather than Record.

Someone else is recording the call you are looking at, and you are watching their recording rather than making your own. You get the transcript as it arrives but no controls to stop it, because it is not your recording. See someone is already recording this call.

Finish is greyed out and says no recording audio survived.

Junior recovered the call's details and notes after an interruption but could not recover any audio, so there is nothing to save. Either Resume to start capturing again into the same call, or discard it.

Can I move the floating pill?

You can drag it out of the way. You cannot dismiss it while a recording is running. It is the one always-visible reminder that Junior is capturing, which is deliberate.
