All six start a recording. The calendar and meeting-detection routes additionally file the call against that meeting, which saves you naming it afterwards.
What happens next
Recording begins immediately, unless another recording is active or your firm requires an attestation or Junior Camera setup first. When you open an early calendar meeting while another recording is active, Junior asks you to confirm switching meetings, saves the current recording, then joins without starting a second active recording. Once it's running, set the Project and the Call type if they aren't already right, and tell everyone on the call that you're recording.
If your firm requires Junior Camera and it isn't ready, Junior opens a dialog instead of recording. Choose installation to continue setup in Settings, where you can complete the remaining approval, camera-selection and meeting-test steps.
If your firm has the consent prompt turned on, Junior asks you to confirm first: see getting consent before you record.
If your firm requires an attestation, Junior shows it before a meeting recording starts. Recording begins once you accept, provided Junior can show any watermark your firm requires.
If your firm requires a watermark that Junior can't show, recording doesn't start. Follow the recovery action in Junior's message before trying again.
Recordings must run for at least a minute. Junior won't let you finish a shorter one. It offers to keep recording instead.
Questions
Does it matter which way I start a recording?
Only for what gets filled in for you. Starting from a calendar meeting or a detected meeting attaches the call to that meeting, so its name and often its project are set. Starting from the sidebar or the keyboard gives you a blank call you name yourself. The audio is identical.
⌘⇧R / Ctrl+Shift+R does nothing.
Something else has claimed it, most often a screen-recording tool or a meeting app. Junior registers it globally, so a conflict means whichever app registered first wins. Use the tray icon or the sidebar instead, and free the shortcut up in the other app if you want it back.
Can I record a meeting without joining it?
Yes. That's what Record does on a calendar entry, as opposed to Join & Record. Junior captures your system audio, so if you're already in the call through another window it doesn't need to open anything. If you aren't in the call at all, it'll record silence.
I started recording ten minutes into the call.
Junior only has what it captured, so the first ten minutes aren't recoverable. Type what you remember into the notes panel while it's fresh. Notes are saved with the call and appear alongside the transcript.
Junior says the recording didn't start.
Nothing is being captured, and Junior tells you so rather than letting you believe otherwise. If it offers Try again, take it. If it points you at audio settings and permissions, that's the cause. Check microphone and system audio permission.
