Open the record screen at a firm where this applies and you get:
Recording is off
Your organisation has turned off in-app recording for now.
There is no button, because there is nothing you can do from the phone. This is not a permission you can grant, a setting you can change, or a fault to report.
What to do instead
- Record on your laptop. Junior for Mac and Windows is a separate decision and is usually still available. See starting a recording.
- Ask internally, not us. Whoever owns Junior at your firm asked for this, and they are the only people who can change it. Compliance, legal and IT are the usual owners.
Everything else in the app keeps working. You can still browse projects, read calls, and play back audio. Only making new recordings on the phone is off.
Questions
Why would a firm turn this off?
Usually because recording on a personal or lightly-managed phone sits outside what their compliance rules allow, while recording on a managed laptop sits inside it. It is a deliberate policy choice rather than a limitation of the app.
